FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Fall Consulting Week?
Fall Consulting Week (FCW) is an opportunity for Notre Dame students and top consulting firms to meet face-to-face at the peak of recruiting season, and it is the banner event from Consulting Connect for the fall semester. The week of workshops and recruiting events centers around our premier networking opportunity, "The Connective," where students can connect with the firms.
Will there be any consulting firms attending FCW? If so, who?
Yes! There will be several of our key partner consulting firms attending. Check the Handshake events to view participating employers.
What is the dress code?
For events where employers are participating, dress is business casual.
Can I skip class to attend Fall Consulting Week events?
No, the Center for Career Development cannot provide excused class absences for these events.
Who can attend Fall Consulting Week?
FCW is open to all undergraduate students of all majors! Consulting is largely agnostic when it comes to academic backgrounds.
Can graduate students attend Fall Consulting Week?
Various FCW events are open to our Notre Dame graduate students and scholars as denoted above. One-year Specialized Mendoza Master's programs (M.S. Management, M.S. Business Analytics, etc.) and ESTEEM, are eligible to attend The Connective + for Masters Students.
Why should I attend Fall Consulting Week?
FCW consolidates a lot of information into a few short days of programming for students interested in diving into the rigorous consulting recruitment process. Only by answering these questions can students adequately construct a plan for their recruiting processes. There isn’t one direct path into consulting, so only by seeing the whole picture can each student visualize and act upon his or her own to be successful. FCW will also allow you to network with firm representatives, which is a crucial part of the recruiting process.
How should I prepare for Fall Consulting Week? Do I need to bring my resume?
Prior to Fall Consulting Week, create a game plan of the firms you want to speak with and check Handshake to see which events they are attending. Students should prepare for the Early Access and Connective events similar to a career fair - bring a folder with a few printed copies of your updated resume, prepare 1-3 thoughtful questions per firm, and prepare a 30-second professional introduction. Click here for tips for success. For the Breakfast and Lunch events, students do not need to bring their resumes, but it is recommended students prepare a few thoughtful questions to ask firm representatives. Click for examples of questions to ask. It is also a good idea to bring a notepad and pen to the events to take notes.
